Biography

Lady Blade (Bri Tahj) is a poet, performer, and publisher based in Rochester, New York. Her work moves across page, stage, and print, often blurring the line between literary practice and lived presence. Known for a controlled, immersive delivery, she approaches writing as both discipline and instinct- language sharpened through restraint rather than excess.

Her work explores intimacy, power, femininity, and survival, with a particular attention to voice, body, and silence. Whether performed live or presented on the page, her writing resists spectacle in favor of precision.

The emphasis is not on explanation, but on recognition-

inviting audiences to sit inside a moment rather than be guided through it.

Blade’s relationship to writing developed through practice rather than permission. What began as private work gradually moved into public space, shaped by performance, repetition, and an ongoing commitment to craft. Over time, her voice has evolved into something deliberate and self-contained, less concerned with visibility than with accuracy.

She is the founder of Tahj & Co., an independent publishing platform dedicated to literary work, visual storytelling, and limited-run artifacts. Through this imprint, she curates and produces publications that center authorship, design, and intention. Her practice extends into live performance, editorial projects, and collaborative work across creative disciplines.

Her work lives in intimate venues, independent publications, and community-centered spaces, as well as in digital archives and print collections. Rather than chasing scale, Lady Blade is focused on depth- building a body of work that endures through clarity, consistency, and presence.
